Community Acupuncture

Go like water. Come like water.

Community acupuncture clinics are held every Tuesday 4-8pm and Friday 5-9pm in Harmony. The clinic is walk-in, but you may make an appointment and I will make sure a seat is available (so far, adequate seating has not been a problem, though). The cost is sliding scale $15-$40; you decide what to pay.

Cancellation Notice:

Every now and then, I will have to cancel a clinic for travel, family affairs, weather, etc. Check this space to plan ahead. In the case of dangerous weather or similar last-minute change, I will decide by 11am the day of the clinic and post here and on my Facebook page whether I will still be open.

Upcoming Cancellations:

Tuesday, April 16

Location Notice:

Please note that the Harmony location is different from the private appointment location. Both are in Harmony, but opposite sides of town.

The address for the community clinic is 556 Main St. Park in the lot in back and walk around to the front.

Community Clinic Patient

What is community acupuncture?
Community acupuncture is a nationwide movement to create better access to acupuncture by lowering the barrier of cost. This is a group setting practice, meaning that because the practitioner can treat several people at once, the cost of the practitioner’s time and resources can spread across the community. In this style, all of the patients are treated in the same room, and since we use acupuncture points mostly on the arms, legs, and head, there is no disrobing. Many people find that they prefer this style because of the profound “group qi” of healing, much like the atmosphere in group worship or meditation.

How does it work?
When you come in the door, choose any empty seat and make yourself comfortable by taking off your shoes, coat, scarves, etc. If this is your first time, there will be a form to fill out and a few things to sign. When you are ready, I will come over to you and we will have a short, whispered conversation about how I can help you. I will take your pulses, insert the needles, and let you relax for as long as you wish. When you feel ready, catch my eye, and I will come take the needles out. Before you leave, place your payment in one of the envelopes provided and drop it in the payment box. And that’s it!

Do you use any of the other modalities of Oriental Medicine in community acupuncture?
No. Because I potentially have several patients at the same time, and with the uncertainty of a walk-in practice, I cannot take the time to use any of the other modalities described on this site, with the possible exception of prescribing you a Chinese herbal formula. Also, some people are sensitive to moxa smoke, and we want to be available and comfortable to everyone.
